Talent Hub Eastern Finland is looking for mentors for international students!
What mentoring offers for a mentor and/or an employer organisation?
– positive employer visibility / opportunity to implement social responsibility at the local level
– an opportunity to get to know the skills of international students and an opportunity to recruit
– new perspectives and innovation ideas
– up-to-date information on fields of education and the workforce
– an opportunity to network and get to know different cultures
– development of one´s own coaching and interaction skills
– an opportunity to develop language skills
”In this mentoring program, I learned a lot about different cultures and how Finnish (work) culture is seen through the eyes of people from elsewhere and what kind of challenges they have faced here. I was also able to share my knowledge and help my mentees move forward.” Johanna Pantsar, Bestla Consulting Oy
”Our intention is to increase the number of international employees. The mentoring programme is an excellent way to promote our aims.” HDR Business Partner Eeva Tuomi , Mondi Kuopio
More experiences from mentoring both from student and employer (Mondi, Normet) perspective can be read from here: Stepping into working life – Mentoring provides direction and confidence – Talent Hub
You can become a mentor as a working life expert with your own expertise, but mentoring can also open up a risk-free way for the employer organisation to get to know international students and their skills. An employer organisation can name the specific study fields of their interest and the number of students they want to mentor.
Coaching and peer support from other mentors are available for those joining the program. Mentoring takes place between December and May, and it is hoped that the mentoring groups will meet once a month in a manner of their choice, either remotely or in person. The total load of the mentoring programme is approximately 20–30 h/mentor or employer organisation. The application period for mentoring is open until 7th September.
More information can be found briefly in the attached mentoring programme brochure from HERE.
