The North Savo Energy Cluster at the heart of the energy transition – Eastern Finland Energy Days invite you to Leppävirta on 13-14 May 2025
In the North Savo and Central Savo regions, energy development will take a significant leap forward when the Energy Cluster North Savo project and the municipality of Leppävirta organize the Eastern Finland Energy Days on 13-14 May 2025 at the Vesileppis Arena in Leppävirta. The event brings together municipal decision-makers, energy and technology sector actors, experts, companies, students and educational organizations to find common goals and visions to strengthen the region’s sustainable development and innovations in the future.
The North Savo Energy Cluster supports regional cooperation and innovation in green transition solutions. The project aims to develop an ecosystem in the energy and technology sector that connects regional decision-makers, infrastructure enablers, companies, educational organizations, students and research institutions to create sustainable solutions for energy production, distribution and future innovations. The project’s target group is energy and technology companies in the North Savo region and the Pieksämäki region, as well as SMEs that provide services to them. The target group also consists of energy-intensive operators that use a lot of energy in their production or business.
Towards a safe, sustainable and innovative energy future
The Eastern Finland Energy Days offer a comprehensive overview of current energy themes, such as the development of the energy society, overall security and resilience, and the impacts of the energy transition at the national and local levels. The two-day event, which will be held for the second time, will be a very significant meeting place for actors from the entire Eastern Finland region, jointly highlighting strong regional energy and technology expertise, but also challenges and opportunities with an eye on the future. An excellent opportunity for networking is also available, as this year again, companies, actors and stakeholders in the field will be exhibitors at the Vesileppis Arena during the event. A natural continuum for networking and opening up cooperation will be provided by the networking dinner with surprises on Tuesday evening, 13th of May 2025.
“For corporate members, the event enables networking and collaboration opportunities around societal debate and future energy solutions. It is also an excellent opportunity to showcase your own expertise in the role of an exhibitor, without forgetting your attractiveness as a future employer,” says Cluster Manager Kirsi Kinnunen from Navitas Business Services.
The main stage of the Vesileppis Arena will focus on big themes, both in keynote speeches and panel discussions. The days will focus on the energy society, overall security, resilience, the impacts of the energy transition, future energy solutions and skills needs.
“Let’s work together to create an energy-secure future, for which tomorrow’s experts are trained today,” says Project Manager and Lecturer Risto Korhonen from the Savo Vocational College.
Inspiration from experts towards the ecosystem of the future
The aim of the Energy Cluster North Savo actors for the event, as in the previous year, is to bring together different parties and enable dialogue and discussion in a multifaceted way. Behind the themes, there is still a strong desire to know; What will be required in the future for Eastern Finland’s innovative and active energy and technology ecosystem to grow and strengthen even further? How will we ensure in the future that we are a regional pioneer in the green energy transition?
“In the clean transition, energy security in innovation and R&D activities is emphasized, and Savonia has a strong will, in cooperation with companies, to take this development forward,” says R&D expert Petteri Heino from Savonia University of Applied Sciences.
The event at the Arena will feature top-level experts from various sectors, such as the National Emergency Supply Agency, Sitra, the Finnish Defence Forces, Fingrid Oyj, U-Cont Oy Ltd, Savon Voima Oyj, Gasgrid Finland Oy, Suomen Biovoima Oy, the Finnish Energy, Andritz Oy and many other pioneers in the field. Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the Savo Vocational College will bring regional education offerings to the fore in cooperation with Navitas Business Services.
Energy from synergy for spring
The event is hosted by the energetic Tommi Taskinen and experiences are offered in many forms, in addition to important topics. “The event will definitely be an experience this year too! The venue environment allows for nice extras for event attendees, such as a visit to the Moomin Ice Cave for the Moomin Ice Sculpture Exhibition 2025,” says Pia Nevalainen from cluster event marketing, Navitas Business Services.
The event, which unites a sustainable energy future, is open to everyone and free of charge in May. Registration for the event is already open on the Energy Cluster North Savo`s website, at www.energyclusternorthsavo.fi. The event content will be implemented in Finnish.
